Frogs, yum!

Well, Maria has officially proved she is the most adventurous eater of all our kids. Last night, she insisted on having some of Tukkie's dinner (or snack, or whatever it was.) Yes, she ate frog--and loved it!

Confession time: I, too, have eaten frogs (at least their legs) and it was actually pretty tasty. In Kentucky and France, that's considered normal.

In other news, Owen had his two-month checkup today. He's healthy and has maintained his 95th percentile measurements, despite his almost constant stream of spit-up. He's now 13 pounds and, shockingly, I've already forgotten his length. It was long. And his head is in the 90th percentile, customary for all boys in our big-headed family. Poor Owen also had four (4) shots--it was awful, but he recovered quickly. He also managed to choke down the oral vaccine for rotavirus, then fell immediately asleep and slept all the way home. He's such a good boy.

Power outage!

Earlier this week, our building posted signs in the elevator announcing the power would be out from 10am to 3pm on Tuesday and Wednesday. Disaster! Not only would that make it impossible to work from home during those hours, it also meant no air conditioning!
To beat the heat, we went to the aquarium. Those one-year-passes definitely come in handy.

As an experiment, we left Owen home with Tukkie for the first time ever. We were only gone two hours or so, and he was fine when we got back. By 2pm, though, the apartment was sweltering. The little kids went to the baby pool, while Declan and I stayed home sweating with Owen.

Baa Baa Black Sheep

Maria recites her current favorite nursery rhyme (with a little help from Declan):

Declan and Maria showed off their new outfits today--thanks Grandma! They're already really missing their cousins.

Joey was at a friend's house and missed most of the photo session, but he's now on the website of the sports camp he and Declan attended over Songkran vacation: http://www.canukickit.net/sport_camp.htm

(He's the one in the festive orange Hawaiian shirt.)

Owen, meanwhile, has been happy to watch all his crazy siblings and their antics.

An Outing with Owen

Yesterday Owen came with me to the Thai Craft Fair, followed by a delicious lunch at a tapas restaurant on Soi 11--he slept in his Baby Bjorn the whole time! He's a superstar.

Swing time

Friends loaned us their swing, and the first few times Owen was not impressed. Today, though, I popped him in just as he was starting to get really sleepy--and that was an hour ago! He's been snoozing long enough for me to eat lunch, tidy up the apartment, and post on his blog! It gives me hope for the future.

Cousins

The kids are really enjoying a visit from their cousins--now that the boys are out of school it's non-stop playtime at our house. Tomorrow we're all headed to a big 4th of July celebration. Hopefully everyone will have a good time.

Owen has done really well on short trips around town lately. If I time it right, put him in the sling or the Baby Bjorn, and keep his binky wedged in his mouth, he sleeps more or less the whole time. Let's hope he sticks to that pattern tomorrow, and that it's not too terribly hot.

Owen's definitely grown a lot recently. Yesterday I sorted through his clothes and packed up all the 0-3 month onesies and sleepers--he is so long that the onesies are skin-tight and his little feet are all scrunched up in the sleepers. He definitely feels more substantial and snuggly now, too, and his personality is starting to come through a bit.
